Founded in August 2000, Austin Playhouse is dedicated to providing opportunities for Austin artists and audiences to celebrate the human experience. During the past seventeen seasons, Austin Playhouse has produced over 100 professional productions including 36 world or regional premieres. This season, Austin Playhouse is pleased to present the brilliant production of Tiny Beautiful Things. Check it out Friday, January 10th!
Based on the best-selling book by Cheryl Strayed (Wild) and adapted for the stage by Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), Tiny Beautiful Things is a luminous play that personifies the unfathomable questions that are at the heart of being a human.
When a struggling writer is asked to take over the unpaid, anonymous position of advice columnist, she receives thousands of letters asking for advice. “Sugar” uses empathy and her personal experiences to help those seeking guidance for obstacles. This play is about reaching when you’re stuck, healing when you’re broken and finding the courage to take on the questions which have no answers.
The play will be directed by Rosalind Faires. Rosalind is an Austin, Texas-based director, actor, and producer. In 2015, she graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with dual degrees in Plan II Honors and Theatre & Dance. Recent projects include assistant directing Sarah DeLappe's THE WOLVES at Hyde Park Theatre.
Witness a moving production of Tiny Beautiful Things at Austin Playhouse this Friday night! Tiny Beautiful Things contains adult language and themes. The play is recommended for ages 18+. It will run at Austin Playhouse from Friday, January 10th to Sunday, February 2nd. Tickets range from $34.00 to $38.00 and are available for purchase at www.austinplayhouse.com.
