This Sunday, humorist and comedian Jeanne Robertson comes to Austin as part of her Rocking Humor tour. At 75 years young, Robertson continues to charm audiences with her humorous observations about life around her. Standing tall at six-foot-two, she has a powerful stage presence, an infectious personality, and a timeless sense of humor. Her storytelling panache, making even everyday experiences extraordinarily funny, hits everyone’s funny bones. See her live at The Long Center on March 24th!
In 1963, at age 19, Jeanne Robertson was named Miss North Carolina and went on to be named Miss Congeniality in that year's Miss America competition. Robertson credits her reign as the catalyst for her career. Although she began her public speaking career with her pageant title, Robertson has achieved much more national attention as a humorist and speaker. Robertson distinguishes between a humorist, which she considers herself, and a comedian, stating, "The humorist weaves the longer stories with a point. We don't go 'after' anybody. I'm telling my life."
Jeanne tours nationally and appears regularly on the Grand ‘Ole Opry. She has nine nationally released DVDs, three books, hundreds of hours on SiriusXM satellite radio and over 65 million YouTube views. The demand for Robertson’s family-friendly and engaging brand of comedy has grown exponentially. Some of her most popular anecdotes include “Don’t Go to Vegas Without A Baptist,” “Don’t Bungee Jump Naked,” and “Don’t Send a Man to the Grocery Store.”
Robertson’s witty depiction of everyday situations never fails to have audiences of all ages rolling with laughter. Don’t miss this performance by a truly funny lady! Tickets are priced beginning at $34 and may be purchased online at www.thelongcenter.org.
